Reading stories can become a very animated affair; we change the tone of our voices based on the characters and use our bodies or hands to be more expressive. The kids love this. As I was puling all of our Christmas decorations out of the garage the other day and came across our Christmas books I thought a fun, easy sock puppet craft that would make story time even more exciting.
This adorable little reindeer is very simple to make and takes no more than 20 minutes.
What you need:
- Brown sock
- Red pom pom
- Googly eyes
- Silver bell
- 3 brown pipe cleaners (chenille stems)
- Needle and brown thread
- Hot glue and scissors
To make:
Using hot glue attach the googly eyes and pom pom nose to the sock.
Put your hand into the sock and just behind your knuckles place a pin as a marker. Cut a small slit where the pin is placed and thread a pipe cleaner down through one hole and up through the next.
Stitch the pipe cleaners in place to prevent movement and fraying around the small holes that you cut. Twist more pipe cleaners onto the initial one to form antlers.
Sew a small bell onto the underside of the sock on the base of the heel.
Have you made any fun sock puppets? I would love to hear what you have made in the comments below.

What a cute idea.
This, I can do. We certainly have enough spare socks without a match lying around. Great project. Thanks!
Oh my goodness! This is way too cute and easy to make.
These are sooo cute! Made a bunch of them and gave them to our friends with kids. A great use for those “sinlge” socks we all have kicking around the laundry room.
