We’re excited to announce that KidZui has changed its name to Zui.com following the successful launch and continued growth of our kid-driven community. We’ve been blown away by how quickly Zui.com has grown, and the Zui Team (formerly the KidZui Team!) has agreed that adopting the site’s name as our own will help our users better relate to us. The Zui Team also sends its congratulations to our own Ryan Bettencourt, who has been promoted to President of Zui.com!
The KidZui browser remains near and dear to our hearts, and we are committed to continuing to offer the browser to families everywhere free of charge. For more information on our name change, please read our official announcement below.
KIDZUI ANNOUNCES COMPANY NAME CHANGE TO ZUI.COM
Ryan Bettencourt Promoted to President as Company Celebrates 2.2 Million Uniques
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 24, 2012) – KidZui Inc., creator of Zui.com, the search and exploration engine for kids and the leading developer of the award-winning kids’ Internet browser, announces the formal company name change to Zui.com.
The combined traffic of the KidZui Browser and Zui.com is on target to hit 2.2 million uniques this month. While some of these users hail from the original KidZui browser, which provides the simplest, safest experience for kids on the net, the majority of that traffic comes from the kid-driven community on Zui.com. Total audience has increased over five times in the last 6 months.
At its August 2011 launch, Zui.com was intended to make it even easier for kids to enjoy the company’s body of over 5 million parent-and-teacher reviewed games, YouTube videos and other content, without the friction of a required download. The site quickly surpassed that goal and evolved into the kid-driven community it is today, with age and gender profile selection that alters content based on user input.
The popularity of this flagship product triggered the name change from KidZui to Zui.com. ”While we intend to support the continued development of the award-winning KidZui Browser – based on our audience growth with Zui.com and the success of our national television advertising campaign, we decided that renaming the company to Zui.com more accurately reflects the energy and awareness of our brand,” said newly appointed President Ryan Bettencourt.
Bettencourt joined Zui.com in 2008 as the head of business development, and has been leading the rapid evolution of Zui.com. Bettencourt, who holds an MBA from Babson College, has been instrumental in forging key partnerships with Best Buy, Sony, Comcast, Toshiba, and Mattel. Bettencourt also played a pivotal role in developing Zui.Com’s innovative ad platform. Prior to joining Zui.com, Bettencourt was head of a digital agency, and an entrepreneur in the digital media space.
“We are excited about the evolution Ryan has spurred and feel confident that his promotion to President will empower him to move us forward faster to delight kids in innovative ways that parents will appreciate,” said CEO and Co-Founder Cliff Boro.
